About Me

Arefa Patel, MBCAP

I am a counsellor who provides a safe, warm and comfortable place for clients to explore what is making them feel unhappy with their lives, and enable them to explore how they can move forward or adjust to what they are experiencing, to be the person they want to be and lead a happy fulfilling life.


Our lives can change in a second sometimes this is a good experience, but when it changes and makes us feel unhappy, sometimes alone and overwhelmed with life, we want this to change, however this can be painful and difficult to do alone, I believe counselling gives the client a safe place to explore these feelings without being judged or directed and most important to be listened to.


I use a person centered approach to counselling, but use other approaches if I feel this will be useful to the client.


I work with young people from the ages of 12, and adults I have experience of face to face, telephone and Skype counselling.


I work with people from all walks of life and backgrounds, coming to me with a diverse range of problems. As a fully-qualified counsellor I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy, and abide by their code of ethics. I am also a verified member of Psychology Today, the Counselling Directory and the MCAPN.

My Qualifications are as follows:

  • Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (CPCAB)
  • Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies (CPCAB)
  • Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills (CPCAB)
  • Level 2 Introduction to listening skills (CPCAB)

How I work with clients

Counselling gives you time and space to work through your problems. Therapy helps you gain a different perspective on problems and issues. Therapy provides a safe, non-judgemental and respectful environment. Counselling can help you regain wellbeing and balance in your life.

It's kept 100% confidential, we only ever discuss or do what the client feels comfortable with and we just openly discuss what issues or problems you are having.

Counselling takes place in a safe space, where you can meet with someone who will listen with sensitivity and empathy - and without judgement. In the therapy space thoughts and feelings can be expressed freely and in confidence.

Counselling gives us a set of tools we can use to help gain a better understanding of what’s causing these problems - and how you can move towards managing or resolving them.

How Can Counselling Help?

Fees & Availability

My fees are £40-45 for 50 minute sessions.

All sessions are on online or over phone due to the ongoing Covid situation at the moment. Concessions are available and can be discussed.

SINGLE SESSION THERAPY

80 Minutes

£100

This session lasts for 80 minutes and includes a 20 minute follow up chat four weeks post-session. During this session, our focus will be to identify the strengths and skills that you possess and how these can be used to help you moving forward.
